ROLE: SENIOR DESIGNER
Residential: A friend approached me with a super challenge: He purchased a studio in Manhattan and had less than a month to make the space livable within a minimal budget. He had only his clothing and some old pictures that were dear to him.
Retail: The vibe is punk, graffiti, a mix between an artist and designer that lives between NY, Paris and Berlin. The client wanted a mix of antiques, of modern, old and classic. Exposed walls, open space where the product would pop in its displays. The store is to be a communal space for artists and designers, including possibly a cafe and studio. Work included selection of all interior elements.
LOCATION:
New York, USA.
ROLE: SENIOR DESIGNER
Bottle Top is an amazing organization creating beautiful products that focus on craftsmanship and empowerment of communities and artisans. Their product line includes collaboration with designers like Narciso Rodriguez to name a few.
My work with the founders was to help out on the concept design: stimulating our creativity in brainstorming sessions with image/mood boards that would inspire the next steps to the creation of their stores.
LOCATIONS:
London, UK and New York, USA.
DEZEEN MAGAZINE - NIKOLAY POLISSKY
In late 2013, I was awarded a one-week design workshop at the Domaine de Boisbuchet with Russian artist and designer Nikolay Polissky by Dezeen Magazine Contest.
By understanding the local environment and not taking away the natural beauty of the surrounding elements, Mr. Polissky vision was of a natural tunnel in the middle of the forest where a small road went through. We would create the tunnel from the same trees in the nearby forest and have each branch uniquely studied for the most natural placement.
The initial idea was to build a tunnel that blend in with the natural environment curated by Alexander von Vegesack. Initially built to be 26 meters long and 6 meters high, we only had enough time to build 10 meters.
As usual, what makes the experience so great are the people and the journey. It was exciting to create without planning or too much thinking but rather just flowing with the senses. Nikolay is a creative genius and it was more than an honor to be part of their team.
